Optimization of asset management and asset inventory count in ESET

Leading Slovak IT company ESET is known as a pioneer in the field of antivirus protection, creating award-winning threat detection software used in more than 200 countries around the world. ESET is the largest IT company in Slovakia, with more than 1,400 employees working for the company worldwide.

ESET approached us at a time when they were looking for a way to speed up and simplify their asset inventory count processes. Previously they were using barcode technology for asset inventory count, this solution did not suit them for a number of reasons and so they approached us with a requirement for a solution to record and inventory assets using RFID technology. Already after the first meeting and discussing the actual requirements and needs of the customer, we concluded that RFID technology is not the most suitable solution for ESET's asset inventory count needs and recommended them to stay with barcodes and implement our modern asset management solution E V I D E I. Compared to the previous solution, thanks to EVIDEI software, ESET was able to better leverage the capabilities of barcode technology for asset inventory count. And not only for physical count and scanning of assets, but also for processing and evaluation of inventory results, thanks to the rich functionality of the PC application of EVIDEI software. The EVIDEI software was able to use the existing asset labeling with the existing barcodes without the need to re-label all assets. A new labeling system was introduced for the newly acquired assets.
